Central Oahu Speech is a privately owned speech therapy company that offers in-person treatment conveniently located in the Central Oahu - right near Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam.
Our certified Speech-Language Pathologists provide 30-minute treatment sessions using play-based or child-led therapy and targeting goals created with parent input. We believe in the importance of empowering our patients and valuing their communication in all forms.
The Speech Therapists at Central Oahu Speech have years of experience in early language skills from toddlers with delays to elementary schoolers, speech articulation training, phonological awareness training, and early literacy skills. At our clinic, we work hard to provide a variety of sensory options, including options for only natural lighting, quieter environment, movement based play, water, sand, and push and pull activities.
We know that a truly patient-centered care approach is reliant on the therapist/family/child relationship. We keep our patients with the same 1-2 therapists for all of their sessions, so that they can build trust and know what to expect when they walk into our clinic.
At Central Oahu Speech, we have an SLP that has completed the Sensory SLP certificate, as well as SLPs that have earned the Meaningful Speech Natural language Acquisition certificate (for gestalt language processing).
We are open 5 days a week in our clinic space at the Airport Center (the building with the whale murals by the airport, 3049 Ualena Street).
We are currently adding patients to our waitlist. At this time we estimate our after-school waitlist to be 5-7 months. Morning spots may have immediate availability or 1-2 month wait.
Please note to be added to the waitlist as a Kaiser Permanente patient, we do need the referral authorized for Central Oahu Speech. If you have Tricare Select, we require a PCP referral with our name, signed by the MD. If you have Tricare Prime, we cannot add you to the waitlist until you have your Authorization for services from Federal Healthnet Services.
*We can and do treat adults occasionally; our areas of experience include: Aphasia, Voice Therapy, and Motor-Speech/Dysarthria. We do not offer treatment for swallowing, memory, or cognition for adults.

Central Oahu Speech reserves the right to discharge any patient from services immediately in the following instances:
physical aggression toward any staff member
verbal aggression toward any staff member
repeated lack of response to communication (from Central Oahu Speech to caregiver) paired with 1 or more missed visits.
2+ weeks with no resolving of authorization issues.
